Set a bankroll
Decide up front how much you can afford to lose — money separate from bills, savings, and life. When it's gone, you're done for the day, week, or month. No reloads on tilt.
Play Responsibly
Slim Sports Picks is designed for entertainment and educational purposes only. Nothing on this site is financial advice. Never wager more than you can afford to lose. No outcome is ever guaranteed — anyone who promises you one is lying to you. Odds and edges shown were current when checked and can move before gametime — lines change, that's the game. All data is sourced from outside parties, so we can't be responsible for line changes or data errors. Always confirm the current line at your book before you play.
If gambling stops being fun, reach out. The National Problem Gambling Helpline, run by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), connects you with local support in all 50 states.

Keep it fun
Betting should be entertainment with a budget — like concert tickets, not rent money. A few ground rules:
Decide up front how much you can afford to lose — money separate from bills, savings, and life. When it's gone, you're done for the day, week, or month. No reloads on tilt.
Wager a small, fixed slice of your bankroll per play — never a random amount based on feel. (1 unit = 1% of your bankroll — the math works at any budget.) Keep a 100-unit bankroll: when you run past 100 units, cash the extra and put it in your pocket. Flat, boring, consistent.
Every legal sportsbook offers deposit limits, loss limits, wager limits, and cool-off periods. Turn them on before you need them — that's what they're for.
Lost a play? The worst response is a bigger play to "get it back." Losses are part of betting — even the best processes in the world lose 40%+ of the time. Walk away instead.
Step away regularly. Don't bet tired, drunk, angry, or bored. If you can't remember why you placed a bet, that's the answer — stop placing them.
Not sure you're ready for real money? Our Sim Lab lets you build and track plays with 1,000 free Slim Chips — all the reps, zero risk.
Know the signs
Be honest with yourself. If several of these sound familiar, it's time to talk to someone — start with the helpline above.
Not sure where you stand? NCPG's confidential 10-question self-assessment takes two minutes.
Take control
If you need a hard stop, these exist for exactly that:
Every state with legal betting runs a voluntary self-exclusion program that blocks you from sportsbooks and casinos for a set period. Find yours on your NCPG state page above.
